What environment will I be working in?

Technicians generally work outdoors, in confined spaces and at great heights. Some wind farms are in remote locations which may require you to work away from home for weeks at a time.

Do I need an electrical/mechanical background?

This isn’t necessary however you would be at an advantage. Coming from this type of background means you can understand the operational processes behind how a turbine actually works.

How do I gain experience?

We pair trainees with our experienced authorised technicians and then expose them to different makes and models of turbines throughout sites in the UK. We nurture our staff over the years giving them as much experience as possible. We then hope that they will become Authorised Technicians who can then take on their own trainees when running a team.
